The City of Milwaukee is a crossroads of stories: the coolest Midwest city and the worst city for black people to live. Milwaukee is rich in history, identity, talent, and other assets. Resources are not shared equally across this city of neighborhoods and the stories do not often reflect the voices of the people in our neighborhoods. It is our role to connect our many assets to one another and to lift up the voices of our neighbors. We love our City of Milwaukee; we celebrate its victories and our hearts break for its losses. We know that Milwaukee is worth every cent poured into it. As the phrase goes, “it takes a village to raise a healthy child.” Our community in Milwaukee is our village and as people in that village, we have a responsibility to make it better.
